II Literary Translation Competition Ameti

Call

Organizers: Ø

Murciana Student Association of Translation and Interpretation (Ameti).

Objective:

Ø The primary objective is to encourage and reward the work of novice translators.

Contest Format:

Ø The competition will consist of the translation a brief statement to make in a classroom. There will be a computer room for the completion of translation.

Ø The texts will be announced at the beginning of the competition.

Categories:

Ø There are two categories:

1. English-English;

2. French-English.

Ø Contestants may only participate in one of the categories.

Participants:

Ø enrolled students may compete in any of the official title of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Murcia.

Registration and contest deadline

Ø Registration is free.

Ø Participants should send an e-mail to the following address: ameti2008@gmail.com with:

or Course / Degree or Grade

or Phone

or Category in which it participates (French / English)

Ø The registration period begins on March 1 and ends on March 16, 2011 (inclusive).

Ø The contest will take place on Tuesday 22 March 10:30 to 13:00, in the framework of the celebrations of the Faculty of Arts.

Awards:

Ø Participants winners will receive the corresponding diploma.

Ø three prizes will be awarded for each of the categories:

or First Prize : A voucher of 40 € in the library Diego Marin

or Second Prize : A voucher of 20 € at the bookstore Diego Marin

or Third Prize : A literary work in a bilingual version.

Ø If the jury thinks fit, prizes could be awarded.

Jury:

Ø The jury is composed of professors from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Murcia.

Comments:

Ø participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules, which may be interpreted by the jury and Policy of Ameti in those areas not provided herein.

Ø The Association reserves the right to use the winning translations for those times when it sees fit, provided under the name of its author.
