The event was organized by Rep. George Garayalde (PRO), author of the initiative declaring the accession of City of Buenos Aires to mark the International Day of Rural Women, held on 15 October in accordance with the provisions of resolution 62/136 of the General Assembly United Nations.
El Día de la Mujer Rural se creó con la finalidad de reconocer la relevancia de las mujeres del campo en el desempeño de sus distintos papeles como campesinas, comerciantes, empleadas o pequeñas empresarias, su trabajo en el ámbito familiar y su labor fundamental en la producción de alimentos para la humanidad.
Fueron distinguidas la Sra. Alicia Tomaszuk, productora agropecuaria de Villa Angela Chaco, Sra. Ana Galmarini del Movimiento de Mujeres en Lucha, la Sra. Teresa Sunde, Plan Social Agropecuario, la Sra. Estela Garnero, Presidente de Federación Agraria de Río Fourth and Rep.-elect and Mrs. Elva Sanchez, First Movement of Rural Women.
